An Ode to Those Who Believe In Tomorrow

Look out Milwaukee, there’s a revolution a-brewin’! The youth here at Woodland Pattern are ready to make the change and be the change. We kicked off day 3 with a “BANG” and ended with a “POW”. Starting off with an improv session, the students pushed their spontaneity to the limits and came up with creative acts on the scene. The instructors couldn’t help but chuckle at the raw talent each student came with. Later in the day, the youth came up with a quote for the week to follow, ‘speak your truth’. We took a field-trip to Redline MKE, a community art studio here in Milwaukee, a created T-Shirts with our quote of the week on them. There, the students worked hard and also constructed pieces on what they felt about the conditions of living in Milwaukee. Check out this heartfelt piece written by Gabriella, a shining student here at Woodland Pattern

Hey Milwaukee, how ya doing?

You’ve been acting strange

Don’t say much but I know a lot.

People say you go off your butt,

They say you’re stubborn and crazy

And maybe a little dangerous

Why do you act this way?

Chicago ain’t doing so great

They may be facing a life sentence

For doing something they ain’t have no business doing

Don’t be influenced like that ,

Don’t be what people say or want you to be

Under Pressure.

It will take some time for this to sink in to you

But I think you can be great

You need to change and become the city we all know and love
